This pretty, mostly rural area just NW of Tampa has many lakes and large home sites. Most of the area is zoned to allow horses, cows and even chickens.

There are a wide variety of homes; some newly built in gated areas, newly built on 1+ acre sites, and many others built in the 1960s-1990s in a variety of neighborhoods. Although one can feel as though they’re living in the country, plenty of amenities are close by. The Veterans Highway also known as Hwy 589 is a toll road running from the Tampa airport area north through Odessa and Lutz offering a convenient and fast way to commute.

There are many parks with hiking trails throughout the area. The Upper Tampa Bay Trail used by cyclists, joggers, strollers and skaters runs through both towns. This paved trail winds through over 7 miles of nature areas, such as Brooker Park Preserve. The trail has recently been connected to the Suncoast Trail adding 42 more miles north into Hernando County.
